Arte no Consulado - Fernanda Froes

Brazilian Government Website (gov.br), April 10, 2023

On April 5, another stage of the ART AT THE CONSULATE 2023 project took place, featuring the participation of Brazilian visual artist Fernanda Froes.

The initiative opens spaces in public service areas—such as the consul’s office and meeting rooms at the Consulate General—for the exhibition of Brazilian-produced artworks, to be enjoyed by the consular community and other visitors.

The stage implemented on June 5 features Rio de Janeiro–based artist Fernanda Froes, an industrial designer for 20 years and a U.S. resident since 2017. Her artistic research engages with science and history, highlighting the importance of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Americas. Having participated in exhibitions in Lisbon, Milan, and Rio de Janeiro, Froes presented a body of work titled “Ibitiranga,” which reflects research and experimentation with historical natural dyes, such as brazilwood ink, extracted through organic processes.
